DESIGN SERVICES
We offer a range of garden design services that can be tailored to your needs. Whether you are looking for advice and inspiration, a revamp of your existing planting or a full transformation of your garden, then we are more than happy to help and advise you on the services you may need as well as explain the design process.

In-person or Online Consultation
The consultation is tailored to help shape your outdoor space into something both functional and beautiful — whether you're looking for planting advice, layout ideas, design direction, or ways to integrate new features.

It begins with a short questionnaire to clarify your goals and highlight any issues, allowing Edmund to prepare with relevant research.

During the consultation, we’ll walk through the garden (either in-person or virtually), exploring design possibilities, planting options, feature placement, and budget considerations — with expert guidance throughout.

Concept Design
In addition to the consultation a tailored concept design will go on to provide you with a scaled layout drawing that illustrates the proposed structure of your garden — highlighting key areas such as hard landscaping, planting, and features. You’ll also receive mood boards, planting suggestions, and material ideas to support the overall vision.

The concept design presents a clear visual direction, often with multiple layout options and perspective views to help you envision the potential of your new garden.

Full Garden Design
The full garden design service builds on the concept stage, taking your project from initial ideas through to detailed planning, sourcing, and delivery.

Detailed specifications are drawn up with every element considered. We can manage procurement, source specialist contractors where needed, and oversee the build and planting to ensure quality and accuracy.

Ongoing maintenance can also be arranged to help your garden thrive as it matures.

The full garden design process is outlined below.
DESIGN PROCESS

SITE VISIT, CONSULTATION & SURVEYING
The initial consultation meeting is the time to discuss exciting ideas which will form the basis of the design brief and to discuss your budget. It is used to look at the possibilities and limitations of the site, considering the views, aspect, levels, soil structure and access. Following the meeting a garden design brief will be drawn up based on our discussions along with a quote for any further design services desired and required.

Following this a site survey is needed to produce a scaled plan of your garden. If the site is complex a chartered surveyor may be required.
CONCEPT DESIGN & LAYOUT
The concept design is a scaled drawing of the proposed layout for your garden, showing areas of hard landscaping, planting and features. This includes initial plans, mood boards, planting and material suggestions.

This is the first stage of the design where we propose to you several options of the new garden structure. The views and the perspective are offered to show a vision of what the garden will look like.
DESIGN SPECIFICATION & DETAIL
If the work requires specialists, they will sourced and be provided with a clear brief so they can cost accurately.

Once the design has been chosen, the specification layouts are drawn up to allow the team to create the garden. During this stage we work with you to specify every detail; the choice of the plants, the lights and other installations such as pergolas, garden furniture, pots and containers.

PLANTING PLAN & SUPPLY
We design a planting scheme to suit the particular growing conditions of your garden, to complement the design, provide interest throughout the year, and create the overall ambiance you desire.

A plant schedule detailing the quantity, botanical name and size of plants required will be prepared.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
We can manage the procurement and build of your project. Many build elements we can complete but for those that require specialist services we can obtain quotes from contractors and oversee their work to ensure it is delivered as planned.

We can source and procure plants set from specialist nurseries and manage the positioning and planting of these as set out in the plan.
MAINTENANCE
Gardens require a level of maintenance to ensure they evolve and improve with age. As a firm that specialises in garden maintenance as well as design we can construct and deliver care and maintenance programme that sees your garden flourish. Depending on the needs and requirements of the garden this could be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
